MBGLL Jamboree — Frequently Asked Questions
June 13, 2021
Location – Devens (Museum Fields), 29 Antietam Street, Devens MA 01434
Directions - Drivers should drive on Antietam Street, not Buena Vista. Buena Vista is heavily monitored by the police who ticket unauthorized vehicles.
Arrive Early — Please have your team arrive at least 30 minutes before your first game to allow time to park, register, find each other, set up your tents and other equipment, and get to your field.
Registration – Only coaches need to register at the Registration Tent. Plan to check-in at least 30 minutes prior to your first game in case there are lines. Double-check your schedule and field location for any last-minute changes. We will have the final schedule posted at the registration tent so you can take a picture of it with your phone. Once you have checked in, you will receive the team give-aways, which the players always look forward to receiving.
Sanctioned Event - This event is part of The USA Lacrosse Sanctioning Program, which provides best practices for tournament operators in order to create a more safe and consistent event. Through the adoption of the Sanctioned Tournament Standards, tournaments commit to providing the best possible lacrosse experience.
All tournament participants must be current USA Lacrosse members in order to participate. USA Lacrosse membership numbers will be collected and verified when completing tournament waivers. If you are not currently a member, or your membership is set to expire during the event, please visit USA Lacrosse to register.
Team Rosters – Please submit team rosters prior to the Jamboree. We need to verify US Lacrosse memberships for all players and coaches prior to the event. MBGLL Jamboree Roster Submission (http://assn.la/UserForm.asp?RegID=216417&org=MBGLL.ORG)
Communication — MBGLL will post on MBGLL’s Facebook page if we need to get a message out to everyone during the day. Please make sure to have your notifications set to receive any Facebook updates.
Team Village — Teams may set up tents anywhere while keeping social distancing in mind. There is a designated food/retail vendor area (See MBGLL Jamboree Field Map.) Because of safety concerns, we ask that you not use grills at the facility. Also, please ensure that any pop-up tents have attached, flame-retardant tags. It can get windy at this area so please bring heavy-duty stakes to secure your tents. Please make sure to avoid setting up your tent in the emergency access routes. Tents larger than 10 x 12 require a permit.
Parking —Please look at the site map prior to arriving to see the main parking lots. Please do not park illegally, as the police will ticket and tow violators. Handicap parking is available in each main lot. Staff will direct you as to where to park your car once you arrive.
First Aid Personnel — MBGLL will have first aid personnel on-site. If you have a medical emergency on a field, please go to the nearest Field Monitor Station or the Registration tent. All field monitors are able to communicate with medical personnel. Medical personnel are stationed at the registration tent.
Respect our Hosts — We would like to use these facilities again, so please behave in a way that makes it easy for us to do so. Please stay off of the baseball in-fields to ensure that we don’t damage those fields. Please do not strike any ball into fences. Also, please pick up all trash before leaving a field or your tent area. If you see that the trash barrel is full, please pull the bag out, tie it up, and place it beside the can. There should be an extra bag inside of the can. Someone will be circling the fields to pick up the bags. Many hands mean little work for us all. Thank you.
Field Monitor Positions – Field monitors are strategically posted throughout the site under tents with “Field Monitor” banners. Field monitors have a game and horn schedule as well as a field map. Field monitors also are able to communicate with medical and event personnel. If there is an injury requiring medical attention or a sportsmanship concern on the field, please either go to the closest field monitor station or to the registration tent. The field monitor will contact medical/event personnel, who will immediately report to your site.
Sportsmanship – If you are in the middle of the game and are questioning the sportsmanship around you, please send a representative to the nearest field monitor tent to ask for a Sportsmanship Ambassador to come watch the remainder of your game.
Respect your Opponents — If you see that your team is dominating a game, please demonstrate the sportsmanship that MBGLL represents by not running up the score. Scores should be kept within a 4-point differential. Some ways to keep the play even are to switch to many passes before shooting or play with non-dominant hands at the top of the sticks.
Honor the Game – Please read this document regarding honoring the game and share it with your parents and players prior to the Jamboree. As a reminder, spectators are to sit on the opposite side of the field from the teams. Spectators are asked to only participate in positive cheering from the sidelines. For more information, Honor the Game is located on https://www.leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?n=37465&org=MBGLL.ORG.
Language – This is a rated “G” event. Please use “G” rated language only, as there are young athletes and families on-site.
Support our Sponsors and Vendors — Dicks Sporting Goods, and US Lacrosse are our year-long sponsors and will attend our Jamboree. Our sponsors and vendors have contributed significantly to making MBGLL’s Jamboree a success. Please support them and visit their booths in the Vendor Village. Vendors include: Dick’s Sporting Goods, Northwest Designs, MVP Wear, SportTobin, and Chill Life.
T-Shirts - MBGLL again partnered with Northwest Designs to sell event apparel. Please visit their booth to get yours. A portion of their sales is invested back into MBGLL. This is a terrific fundraising effort for our league and hope you will help support it.
Food - This year there are several different food trucks attending. Please support our food vendors! Vendors include: George’s Ice Cream, Trolley Dogs
No-Shows/Forfeits – No-shows and team cancellations require our staff to recreate the Jamboree schedule as well as notify team managers, coaches, parents, and officials. Please do everything that you can to honor your game schedule. It is better to play with a fewer number of players on the field than to cancel your game. (We can ask the opposing team to help fill out your roster if necessary.) If you "no-show," MBGLL will not invite your team back to a Jamboree for a long, long time...
2021 Jamboree Cancellation Policy - Space is limited at MBGLL’s Jamboree. Jamboree team registrations are non-refundable unless MBGLL cancels the event due to COVID. In the event that the Jamboree is cancelled due to COVID, towns will receive 1/3 of the registration fee as a refund and 1/3 of the registration fee as a credit to be used towards registrations in 2021 or the spring 2022 season.
Threatening Weather — MBGLL’s Jamboree will take place unless the weather is REALLY bad or playing will damage the fields. Check this website and Facebook for the latest schedule information in case of bad weather. It will have up-to-the minute information. Please don't call the site managers...with so many teams playing, they are not able to handle the load.
Game Times — Games will start and stop on a central horn, so please arrive at the field ready to play. Not being ready means you play shorter games. Each team will play two games.
Game Duration — Teams will play 25-minute halves with a 10-minute halftime. This will leave 15 minutes between games. No time-outs unless called by an official.
Team Sizes — U13 and U15 will play 12v12. U9 and U11 teams will play 7 v 7 with an optional goalie.
Coaching – No coaches are permitted on the field at any league level. This includes the U9 level. (Coaches are to stay in the coaching area.) Only one coach is to communicate with the players on the field. The players have had plenty of time to practice over the season. Now they get to show off their skills.
Officials — You do not need to pay officials. MBGLL will pay them directly. Please remember to respect your official. If you have an issue during the game with a referee, please send a representative to the nearest Field Monitor station and request a senior official to come watch the remainder of the game.
Pets – We discourage you from bringing pets to the Jamboree, as they are not permitted on the fields. If you do bring a pet, please carry plastic bags with you to clean up after them. We don’t want our players to step in any surprises with their cleats. All pets must remain on leash at all times while on-site.
Fields – All fields are grass.
Smoking/Alcohol/Weapons – No smoking, alcohol or weapons are permitted on the premises.
Other Helpful Hints – Sometimes the tent area is quite a distance from the parking area. If you have a lot of equipment to transport to this area, we suggest that you bring a wagon or wheelbarrow. MBGLL will not loan out its golf carts to teams to transport equipment.
You will not have access to running water at the sites so please make sure to bring enough liquid for the day.
Questions? — If you have a question, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or your division director. Jamboree on-site staff will reside at the Registration tent. Look for them if you have questions or need help.
Have a fantastic Jamboree experience!
